WHAT TO EXPECT:
Outdoor locations offer great results for family
portraits with stunning light and beautiful natural backdrops,
this could be a natural treed area, the backyard garden, rural
property, the local park or the beach - there are plenty of stunning
locations in and around Yeppoon. This is something to give due
consideration as it will be forever seen in the background of
you family photos.
Most sessions will take around 1 hour, but I
recommend allowing up to 2 hours for photographs to be taken,
especially if young children are involved in the session. I would
recommend children be well rested with a full tummy before our
photo session. I will often ask your child to pretend I'm not
there so they can play, run around, draw or do whatever they normally
would if I wasn't there. Young children often get tired easily
or simply get bored, so short regular breaks for snacks, drinks,
a change of clothes and a breather in general is usually a good
Maternity photo sessions should ideally be done
between 32-34 weeks. If it is done to early, your bump may be
'to small' but if you wait to long...you may miss the opportunity
to get photos done at all!
My photographic style is very relaxed, artistic
and candid. I will never ask for forced smiles or awkward poses.
I prefer to take natural photos of you and your family and will
encourage you to chat or play and run around together - just do
what you normally would when together as a family, this is where
the true personality of you & your family is captured and
creates stunning images that you will treasure forever!
WHAT TO WEAR:
What ever you like! It is important that you
feel comfortable, so wearing clothes that you are comfortable
in is a great starting point. I do ask that you stay away from
clothing with words, slogans, pictures or characters on them which
can detract from the persons face & give the photographs a
Simple plain clothing provides a classic, timeless
look. If this is a style you like, I recommend dressing everyone
in clothes and colours that compliment each other. Dressing everyone
in creams, greens and browns or some other complimenting colour
scheme will work best. A family wearing denim jeans and black
t-shirts looks great and won't date easily. Funky hats, gumboots,
tutus & other accessories look great on small children.
WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR PHOTO SHOOT:
I would encourage you to bring a different outfit to change into
to give your session some variety or incase your child has an
accident. I would also recommend bringing some snacks, drinks
and a few toys for children. If you have something you would like
photographed with your child such as a favorite teddy or blanket
or if they like dressing up as a princess or superhero, feel free
to bring them along with you. These are the things that you will
look back on in the years to come and remember with fond memories.
This also applies to maternity sessions too -
if you have an ultrasound photo or a pair of baby shoes you've
purchased in preparation for your new arrival, feel free to bring
them along to use in your photographs.
